Johnny Moves to Penn Brothers Racing

Johnny recently made the switch to the Penn Brothers team for the remainder of the 2014 season going forward. Their first race was at Lonestar Speedway where Johnny netted a 5th place finish in the Armadillo Nationals. Last weekend they trekked west to compete in the USRA Fall Nationals at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Johnny came out strong on the opening night. He passed two cars to run 3rd in his heat. Then for the feature he fired from 12th and pushed forward to 4th. The top five were locked into Saturday's $10,000 to win show, so they repaired the damage from Thursday and got ready for the 50 lap feature Saturday. In the main event Johnny was credited with a 15th place finish in a rain shortened event.

Pair of Solid Finishes in USMTS Hunt

The Ramirez Motorsports team planned on competing five times last week, however three of those shows were nixed by rain. The Hunt for the USMTS Championship took them to Marshalltown Speedway in Iowa last Wednesday. Johnny passed one car to finish 5th in his heat. He accumulated the 13th most passing points, so he rolled from the inside of the 7th row for the start of the feature. The #1st raced all the way up to a 7th place finish.

Thursday and Friday's programs were washed out as well as Sunday's scheduled finale. They went to the famed Deer Creek Speedway for the Saturday night show in the swing. Johnny had a good draw started the heat from the outside pole and won. In the redraw Johnny drew the pole and closed with a good 3rd place run.

The team is taking a couple weeks off from USMTS activity until the schedule resumes back at Deer Creek Speedway for the 16th Annual Fall Jamboree.
