Runner Up at 81 Speedway

Speedweeks Week 1

After a lengthy break from the track Johnny was back at it for USMTS Southern Speedweek action. Racing began last Thursday at 81 Speedway near Wichita, Kansas. Johnny had a good night behind the wheel of the Penn Brothers MB Custom. He drew thew pole for his heat and won it. This put him in the redraw where he pulled a seven. During the main event he pushed forward five spots to end as the evening's runner up. The following night they moved to Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas. It was the inaugural visit by the USMTS. He started the heat form the outside of the front row and again won. He fired form the outside of the second row in the main event and brought it home fifth. Saturday they concluded three straight days of action at Route 66 Speedway in Amarillo, Texas. Johnny rolled form the point in his heat and for the third straight night won the qualifier. He redrew the third spot for the feature and ended inside of the top ten in seventh.


Speedweeks Week 2


Johnny and the Penn Brothers Racing team rolled on last week with the conclusion of the USMTS Southern Speedweeks. They started out on Tuesday at Heat O' Texas Speedway in Elm Mott, Texas. Johnny didn't have a great draw and ran seventh in his heat. It was then on to the B-Main where he finished ninth. Starting near the back in 23rd, Johnny moved forward to 11th. The following night they pulled into the famed Devil's Bowl Speedway. Johnny passed four cars and finished his heat in fifth. Sarting on the second row of the B-Main Johnny won it and rolled off from 14th in the feature. He had another good run in the feature finishing eighth. Thursday evening they raced at East Texas Speedway in Petty, Texas. It was the first time the USMTS sanctioned an event there. He rolled of form the pole in his heat and took the checkers. Johnny redrew a seven for the main event and raced to a fifth place finish. They wrapped up their racing Friday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He made a three car advancement in the qualifier to run third. He was credited with a 17th place finish at the races conclusion.
